What is your current state of mind?
Well, I just spent the day composing an orchestral piece for a film; then ate some Thai food with friends and stayed up all night winning 7 out of 8 billiard games while we debated wave-particle duality. I’d say, my state of mind is stimulated and content.

What are the components of bliss?
One part the answer above and one part playing the game “Risk” while eating pizza with all my nieces and nephews.

If you could invite anyone from history to dinner who would it be?
Nietzsche, Gödel and whomever they would each invite from history. And of course, it would be important to have an excellent cheese plate to get over all the awkward silences.

What is the best piece of advice you were ever given, and whom did you get it from?
My father once told me the only things that are hereditary are education and poverty.

What is the one thing you’d change about yourself?
Being a workaholic.

What is the most outrageous thing you’ve heard said about yourself?
I’m sure whatever it was, I wasn’t there to hear it. Given the lack of data, I’ll assume it was “That guy is truly outrageous. Truly, truly, truly outrageous. Jem!!!”

What would it take to make you go, WOW!!!?
The final hours of a fierce death-match game of listing palindromes.

Who are your real life heroes?
Does Snooki count as “real life”?

What feature / quality do you find most interesting in another person?
Intelligence and honesty.

What word or phrase do you most overuse?
“Listen to this... this is the coolest part of the song.”

What is your earliest memory of childhood?
I remember trying to talk to my older brother and sister but they couldn’t understand me.

You have $100, what do you spend it on?
A cab ride to my safety deposit box.

What has been your greatest memory?
13 years old, playing guitar with my band in the school auditorium and the entire student population rushed the stage and started dancing. You don’t forget your first.

What would your autobiography be called?
“How to live a little more Monster Magnet”

What’s your pet peeve, what really ticks you off?
Lack of logic.

Who is your favourite fictional hero?
Yudhisthira from the Mahabharata.

Who is the most interesting person you’ve ever met?
She knows who she is because we never run out of things to talk about.

You have an afternoon all to yourself away from everything / everybody, how do you spend it?
Composing in my studio FatLabs is largely a solitary activity, so it would be a waste to spend a free afternoon away from everybody. I would gather my family to play cards and eat dinner.

You arrive at the pearly gates, what does St. Peter say to you?
“Don’t worry - everyone up here’s an atheist.”

If the whole world were listening, what would you say?
Nothing. I would play the latest song I wrote... and pass a hat around. GL
